Our congregation shares the love of Jesus in practical ways in our community and world. Every month, we have a different missions focus. Some of our projects are listed below:
Baby Hugs – We have a local mission at the United Hospital District to welcome every newborn baby with a "Baby Hug." It's a gift of practical supplies for the needs of the baby. In 2021 we supplied over 100 Hugs! Each one is valued at $25-$30. They are very much appreciated.
Bundle Up – We collect and give away new and gently used winter coats, boots, caps, mittens and gloves to anyone in need. The main distribution takes place on Saturday morning from mid-October to early-December.
Child Sponsorship – Our Vacation Bible School kids have been sponsoring a child in Guatemala since 2016. We work through Compassion International.
Mission Trips – Opportunities for youth and adults to experience the world and share God’s love.
Mujila Falls Agricultural Center, Zambia – We support United Methodist missionary Paul Webster’s work in this African country. Through this educational farm, Zambians are learning to be self-sufficient and lives are being changed.
Prayer Shawl – This interchurch ministry has provided hundreds of beautiful handmade shawls that are accompanied by prayers of blessing. These shawls warm both body and soul!
Radio and Online Ministry – On Mondays through Saturdays, from 8:55 – 9:00 a.m., Pastor Lee shares the "Encouraging Word" devotional on our local KBEW station. Our Sunday morning 9 a.m. services are broadcast live on 1560AM. We also have our Sunday morning church service on Facebook Live at:
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) – Our denomination has a well-planned, long-term effective approach to disaster relief. Long after the news headlines are a distant memory, UMCOR will be on the ground providing relief and recovery around the world. 100% of the donated supplies and gifts go to actual recover efforts. Overhead costs are paid from a separate fund.
These are just some of the projects we support through our gifts and volunteering. Do you have a mission project on your heart? Feel free to share it with our Missions Committee!
