  1. Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Be a person of high moral values.
  3. Passionate about the teaching and mission of Hope UMC
  4. A desire to teach and mentor children with joy, patience and an accepting heart.
  5. Organized, able to recruit and mentor volunteers and be creative.
  6. Preferably have an educational background in Christian Ministries, Biblical studies, or a related field.
To ignite a desire for a genuine relationship with Christ, help establish them in their Christian faith, and equip them to be a lifelong follower of Jesus.
Assist Hope UMC in drawing children into our ministries and families into the life of our congregation.
Encourage and equip parents to develop a biblical worldview in their children.  Promote prayer and personal Bible reading as well as provide opportunities for ministry leadership, outreach to the community, and connection to mission field.
To teach a Bible based curriculum and encourage a Biblical based lifestyle.
  1. Works directly with the Pastor as a colleague with the staff of Hope UMC.
  2. Communicates directly with Staff Pastor Relations Committee regarding expectations, concerns, and evaluations.
  3. Ultimately accountable to Hope’s Administrative Council.
  4. You are never expected to work as an unpaid volunteer in your ministry area.  It is up to you to monitor and report your hours.
  1. Responsibility for the oversight and leadership of the Children’s and Youth ministries for children ages infant through 12th grade.  These ministries include Sunday morning Sunday school (September – May), Wednesday evening children and youth activities, vacation Bible School, and special events.
  2. Recruit, train, pray for and involve new children’s ministry volunteers.  Encourage and provide resources for current volunteers.
  3. Establish a presence for our Children’s Ministry in other social media forums.
  4. Communicate consistently with parents as well as provide the tools they need for spiritual leadership.
  5. Effectively manage the coordinator’s budget.
  6. Be a catalyst for effective ministry to families with the goal of involving unchurched families in the life of Hope UMC.  This may include thing like establishing special events like Trunk or Treat, movie night, game nights, Giant Day parade participation, etc.
  7. Provide leadership as we continue toward developing clear policies and practices for safely and screening.
  8. Develop skills through attending workshops, reading ministry-related books, and possibly finding a peer mentor. 
  9. Active participation in regular meetings which include staff meetings, education meetings, and annual Hope charge conference.
  10. Plan yearly youth mission trips.
  11. This position is not in charge of confirmations.
  1. Always exhibit professionalism demonstrated by: a conscientious work ethic, being willing and able to work at a fast pace within a variety of settings with composure.
  2. Ability to respond to conflict in a Christlike, professional manner.
  3. Serve as a mandated reporter.
  4. Should be a person who gives extreme attention to details with an eye for excellence.
  5. Should be a self-starter, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
  6. Endorse and support the local church and her mission as well as the ministries of the worldwide work of the UMC.
  1. Starting at $18hrs/ 40 hrs a week
