Hope UMC Blue Earth

Welcome to Hope UMC!

Three guiding principles:
GOD’S LOVE IS GREAT! We want you to experience the amazing love of Jesus.

GOD CALL US TO A NEW LIFE. We invite you to join us on the journey of being followers of Jesus Christ.

GOD’S WORD IS RELEVANT. We believe that God’s Word offers us hope and guidance for everyday life. We seek to be shaped by God’s truth through our daily Bible reading, small group studies, and teaching in our various weekly worship services.

It is a joy and privilege to share God’s love as the Pastor of Hope UMC.  We are learning to become more fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and, in turn, to share His love with our community.  My primary passion in ministry is teaching the Bible in clear, relevant ways.  Whether working with elementary students, youth, or adults, I find people are hungry to understand God’s Word.   My wife, Janelle, is definitely a partner in ministry.  She stays extremely busy teaching English at the local high school.  Our new favorite role is that of first-time grandparents.

I'm a local girl with my roots in Faribault County.  My family's farm near Brush Creek has been in the Redman family since 1878, and I'm proud to be a graduate of Bricelyn High School, Winona State College, and United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.
First a high school English teacher with a love for grammar and English literature, I heard God calling me to mid-life ordained ministry.  I served congregations in Chisholm, Waterville and Blooming Grove (also Morristown and Cannonville for a brief time in that parish), Spicer, and Redwood Falls before retiring to care for my mom in Wells.  I have a passion for people knowing the love and grace of God!
My cats Siiri and Mayme keep me entertained!  I'm trying to grow in my hobbies of quilting, painting, and reading. Offer me a cup of coffee, and I'm there!
