Mat Making

Sleep Mats is a part of UMCOR International Methodist Missions. It serves local community, national and international homeless needs. The mats are woven completely from plastic shopping bags. The bags are collected/donated locally. Then, they are flattened, folded, cut, tied into strips and woven together on a table top loom. This makes a large mat approximately 30″ X 68″. Mats create a moisture-proof, critter-resistant, and thermal-insulating barrier under bedding. Workdays are the first and third Thursday at 1:00 at the church.
